Managing contact types
How contact types help you organize and manage property-related connections
Not every contact in your database plays the same role. Some are property owners, others are buyers, lenders, contractors, or service providers. Invelo’s Contact Types (also referred to as contact relationships) allow you to clearly define how a contact relates to a property so you can segment, filter, and manage your database more effectively.
This article explains what contact types are, where to find them, and how to create or manage them.
What are contact types?
Contact Types define the relationship between a contact and a property.
For example, a contact may be:
-
The Owner of the property
-
A Buyer interested in purchasing
-
A Property Manager overseeing operations
-
A Contractor working on renovations
-
A Lender financing the deal
By assigning the correct contact relationship, you gain clarity on each person’s role in your deal pipeline and avoid confusion within your team.
Where to find and edit contact types
To view or change a contact type:
-
Go to a single Contact record
-
Locate the Contact Relationship field
-
View the current relationship
-
Update or change it as needed
This allows you to accurately reflect how the contact is connected to a specific property.
Keeping this field updated ensures your database stays organized and searchable.
Assigning contact types during CSV import
When importing contacts via CSV, you can assign a contact relationship in bulk.
To do this:
-
Add a column in your CSV file labeled for Contact Relationship
-
Enter the appropriate relationship value for each row
-
Map that column correctly during the import process
This saves time and ensures your contacts are properly categorized from the start.
