Updating contact phone number statuses

Learn how to mark phone numbers as correct, wrong, or DNC

Keeping your contact records up to date is key to running effective campaigns. In Invelo, you can easily manage phone number statuses for your contacts by marking them as Correct, No Answer/Response, or Wrong, and even flag them as Do Not Contact (DNC). However, updating these statuses does not automatically remove the contact from any active marketing campaigns. Here's how you can manage both phone number statuses and campaign enrollment effectively.

Managing Phone Number Statuses

When reviewing contact results in Invelo, you have the ability to update the status of each phone number associated with a contact. The available statuses include:

  • Correct – Confirms the number is valid and reaches the intended contact.

  • No Answer/Response – Indicates that attempts to contact the number were unsuccessful, but it's not confirmed to be wrong.

  • Wrong – Identifies the number as incorrect or not associated with the contact.

  • DNC (Do Not Contact) – Flags the number as one the contact does not wish to be reached on.

To update a number’s status:

  1. Navigate to the property or contact record.

  2. Select the relevant phone number.

  3. Choose the appropriate status or toggle the DNC flag.

These updates help you keep your data clean and provide insights into your outreach results.


Important Note on Campaign Enrollment

Marking a phone number as Wrong or adding a DNC flag does not automatically remove the contact from any marketing campaigns they are currently enrolled in.

If you need to stop marketing to a contact, you must take additional steps:

Option 1: Unenroll the Contact from the Campaign

  • Go to the Campaigns section.

  • Find the campaign the contact is enrolled in.

  • Go to the Enrollments tab. 
  • Locate the property or contact record and select View details.

  • Click Unenroll.

Option 2: Move the Contact to the Lost Stage

  • Go to the single property record view.

  • Select Lost

  • Choose Do Not Contact as the Lost reason.



Updating phone number statuses helps track contact quality, but doesn’t affect their campaign enrollment. If a number is marked Wrong or DNC, be sure to manually unenroll the contact or move them to the Lost stage to ensure they no longer receive marketing communications.
