Using Invelo’s errors report and fixing common import errors

Learn how to access your import errors report in Invelo, understand the common error messages, and fix them quickly.

When you import a file in Invelo, the system automatically checks your data for any issues that could prevent certain records from being uploaded. If there are problems, Invelo will flag them and generate an Errors Report to help you identify and fix them quickly.

This guide walks you through how to access and understand the errors report, along with the most common import issues and how to resolve them.

1. Where to Find the Errors Report

After an import has been completed, you can access the Errors Report from your Import History.
This report will only appear once the import process is done and will also show the number of failed records.

To access it:

  1. Go to More › Import Data › History.

  2. Find the import instance you want to review.

  3. You’ll see a summary of how many records were Added, Updated, or Failed.

  4. Click the Download button beside the import to get the Errors Report (CSV file).

Note: The Errors Report is only available for manual imports (via User Import). It won’t be available for imports made through List Builder or Autopilot.

2. Understanding the Error Messages

Each line in the Errors Report corresponds to a record that failed to import. The Error Message column explains what went wrong and what you can do to fix it.

Here are the most common failed reasons you might see and how to resolve them:

Error Message What It Means How to Fix It
Missing required property information One or more required property fields (like Address, City, or State) were missing. Fill in all required property details before re-importing.
Duplicate property detected during import The same property appears more than once in your import file. Invelo automatically imports the first instance and skips the rest. Review your file and remove duplicate property rows before re-importing.
Property address match not found We weren’t able to match the property address in our system. This can happen if the format differs — for example, “Road” vs. “Rd.” — or if the address includes unit or suite numbers. Try manually searching the address in List Builder first to confirm the correct format, and remove any extra unit or suite details before re-importing.
Missing required contact information One or more required contact fields (like First Name, Last Name, or Email) were missing. Add the missing contact details and re-upload your file.
Duplicate contact detected during import The same contact appears more than once in your import file. Invelo automatically imports the first instance and skips the rest. Review your file and remove duplicate contact rows before re-importing.

3. Common Import Issues and Quick Fixes

Here are some frequent causes of errors and how to avoid them:

  • Missing Headers – Make sure your CSV includes clear headers (e.g., “Address,” “City,” “Zip”) before uploading.

  • Extra Spaces or Symbols – Remove unnecessary spaces or symbols in cells, especially in email or phone fields.

  • Wrong File Encoding – If you see strange characters (like “Ô or “”), re-save your file as UTF-8 in Google Sheets or Excel.

  • Corrupted Files – If your import fails completely, open your CSV in Google Sheets and download it again as a new CSV to fix hidden formatting issues.

4. Re-uploading Your Corrected File

Once you’ve fixed the errors, save your updated CSV and import it again.
You can safely re-upload — Invelo will skip records that were already imported successfully.

5. Still Seeing Errors?

If your file still won’t upload after trying the fixes above:

  • Double-check that all required columns are mapped.

  • Try importing just a small portion of your file to isolate the issue.

  • Or reach out to the Customer Success Team with your Errors Report — we’ll be happy to take a look.
